Born and raised in Hong Kong, Bernard Chan graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) under the tutelage of Letty Poon, and recently finished the Master of Arts degree with distinction at the Royal Academy of Music where he studied with Professor David Strange.
Chan is active both in orchestral and chamber music. He is now a guest tutti cellist of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta. He is also invited regularly by Tai Kwun to perform as a soloist in its afternoon concert series. In 2014, he toured with the Asian Youth Orchestra
Chan is the recipient of multiple scholarships, including the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Award, Breguet Trey Lee Performing Arts Scholarship for two consecutive years, and Sunbeam Chinese Opera Cultural Scholarship (Top 10).
Chan has also played in masterclasses of renowned artists such as Gary Hoffman and Colin Carr.
Bernard Chan debuted at PRISM Chamber Music Festival in 2018 with PCMF Ensemble-Collective, performing works by Nico Muhly and Steve Reich.
