QUARTER

A two-pianos and percussion ensemble, QUARTER was founded in 2016. The ensemble performed music from the pioneering composer Béla Bartók to the contemporary. Performances including concerts, gigs and multidisciplinary projects.

QUARTER has four musicians: pianist Annie Yuen, Pinky Tsang, percussionist Vonald Chow, and Tim Chan. The ensemble shows their interest in contemporary classical music by giving, among others, the Asian première of Aaron Helgeson's If where is of to why. The ensemble also performed Paul Lansky’s Textures in theatrical setting.

The musicians of Quarter met in Modern Academy, a course focused on contemporary music interpretation organised by the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble.

After their début, they have given performances with invitations from Hong Kong Art Centre, West Kowloon Cultural District, and M+. These include Street Music Series 7th Anniversary, FreeSpace Happening, and M+ donor dinner.

Quarter debuted at PRISM Chamber Music Festival in 2018, with David Maslanka’s This Is the World.
